Neerja Bhanot’s act of valour and bravery is hidden from nobody. But viewers were curious to see how the story got screened on the silver screen. Surprisingly, Sonam Kapoor does absolute justice to the role in unfolding the true story of the Pan American hostess to the audience.
The Real Story
On September 5, 1986, Neerja Bhanot, a Pan American airline hostess, was on her first flight; Pan Am flight 73. Terrorists linked to the Palestine’s Abu Nidal Organisation hijack the flight when it takes off from Bombay.
The terrorists manage to board the flight, but their plans fail when Neerja alarms the pilots who manage to escape. With around 360 passengers on board, at the mercy of the hijackers, hell breaks loose.
Neerja faces the terrorists and rescues many on board but loses her life in this battle.
Overall, Good Direction by Madhvani
The movie is a little dramatic and a bit filmy. However, that does not take away the essence of what the director has tried to portray. Minutes into the movie you get swept away by Sonam Kapoor’s acting and the way the story unfolds.
The Movie
Madhvani’s direction is worthy of appreciation. The story and the direction tilt a bit towards some extra drama. Nevertheless, the movie keeps you glued till the end.
The movie starts and builds the tension immediately that stays with the audience till the end. Parallel narrations between Mumbai and Karachi create an atmosphere of anxiety around you.
This 122 Minutes Film is a Must Watch
Madhvani has portrayed his character with a lot of care.
• Building the story on how Neerja has always learned to stand and fight for the right, he has created the plot well by letting his audience connect to the character.
• From a humble home with a loving mother, father and two brothers to a brutal husband, Neerja is shown as a vulnerable lady but with a lot of composure. Undoubtedly, a well-written script, the movie has a flow that audience enjoy.
• The narration is just apt and gets you into the plot where you want to salute the extraordinary air hostess who showed exemplary courage and was faithful to her duty.
A Sonam Kapoor Movie
Sonam Kapoor has a lot to cheer about after the release of the movie. She has carried the film well and has done complete justice to the role. Neerja opens a whole new and challenging door to Sonam Kapoor’s Bollywood career.
Not to mention is the outstanding acting of Shabana Azmi, who plays Neerja’s mother. Yogendra Tiku, who plays the role of Neerja’s father, has also been appreciated.
A Great Movie Worth Watching
Neerja is a great family movie, a must watch. For the real story of Neerja Bhanot and Sonam Kapoor’s acting, I would recommend the film. Madhvani’s direction is applaudable. He has portrayed the character of Neerja to the audience in the best possible way.
Neerja is a well-written and a well-directed documentary which is sure to fill your hearts with praise. It will want you to salute the brave Pan American air hostess, Neerja.
