For Architecture, Shopping, and Opera

While in Sydney you have to see the beautiful Sydney Opera House. That’s the distinctive building on the harbor with the roof like a ships’ sails. It’s become the icon of Sydney. There are restaurants and shopping right there and, of course, the operas.

For the shoppers among you, Sydney offers many venues for that. One of them is the Queen Victoria Building built in the 1890s with stained glass windows and a vast cupola. It covers a full city block and offers 180 excellent fashion venues all in one place. There are even jewelers where you can purchase some of the famous opals Australia is known for.

One classically Australian bar is the Bald Faced Stag Hotel, a venue for local and national acts almost every night of the week. Also recommended is the Marrickville Bowling Club. Your hotel will be able to direct you to any of these locations.

The Beaches, Trails, and Barrier Islands

Within the city’s boundaries is Sydney Harbor National Park. The area provides hiking, surfing, and diving. It also offers opportunities to learn about the first peoples, geography, and geology of the area. Learn about the Barangaroo, the Cadigal and the Bennelong – rich cultures that continue to influence the culture of Sydney and beyond.

Sydney is also known for Bondi Beach with its famous surfers and huge waves. It’s only 8 km (about 5 miles) from the city center with white sand beaches, ice cream vendors and beach bars nearby. They even have lifeguards and calmer pools at either end of the beach for the less adventurous swimmers and surfers.

An inland tour2

If you enjoy the countryside, good wine, and drink, then one of the food and wine trails just outside of Sydney might entice you. These are Australian things – an auto or hiking tour set up to take you through beautiful scenery along a route of eateries, breweries, and wineries. The tours can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a full day.

Sydney offers excellent accommodation and transportation. Choose from two-star through five-star hotels. Transportation is available via car rentals, buses, ferries and trains depending on your preferences.

The second day you will go exploring throughout Delhi. A couple of great attractions include Gandhi’s memorial. Try to save some money as you travel through the moon light market or “ChandniChowk.” Here you will see tons of people going on a small path to get to where they need to go.

Your guide will assist you by pointing out all the different areas of the market. It is the largest market in Asia. Delhi has many attractions that will keep you busy the entire day.

Third & Fourth Day: The Beautiful Jaipur

After you have had a good time in Delhi, it’s time to enjoy the rest that the Golden Triangle of India has to offer. Heading over to Jaipur, you will have the chance to visit the Tripolia Bazaar. You also get to experience a classic way of living in some of the walled cities such as Thatheronka Rasta.

Continuing your exploration of the beautiful Jaipur as a part of your India Golden Triangle Tour package, the next day focuses on the best spots available. The fourth day includes visiting a palace and the GovindDevji Temple. Also, you will get the chance to see the world’s oldest and largest stone observatory. This tower holds some of the best-preserved tools used for astronomy.

At the end of your fourth day, you can visit the GovindDevji Temple which is dedicated to the Hindu God Krishna. It is located in the heart of the old city. Witness the daily worship of the idol through hymns. Each day, she is praised at seven different times.

Last Days: Ending Your Indian Tour with a Bang

To wrap your trip up, you will spend one more day in Jaipur and then head to Agra. Here you will visit the TajMahal, one of the most famous monuments in India. It took 22 years and 20,000 men just to build it!

Another ancient monument that is 2500 years old is the Agra Fort. It played a significant role during the rule of Mughal. To end your Golden Triangle India Tour, you will stop by Delhi again for your last stay. Then, you depart in the morning.

TOP OF THE POPULAR WEEKEND GETAWAYS IN THE UK THIS SUMMER

With the British autumn fall seeming to happen later every year, there is an added benefit to the extended summer – weekend getaways in some of a unique place the UK has to offer.  They are best experienced in the balmy close of the hot season.  Weekends can be reclaimed as the relaxation bonus they were invented to be.

There will be something for even the most jaded jet setter to admire.  There is no lovelier place than the British countryside as summer is on the cusp of turning.  The cities are packed with a treasure trove of culture, art, and gastronomy, so throw an overnight bag in the car and try out some of these great weekend retreats.

  1. LONDON CALLING

Every UK summer weekend break list should include London.  More specifically, The Dorchester Hotel in Mayfair.  It is the hub of the best UK high-end shops and most fascinating attractions.  The Dorchester Spa is the world renowned for being the ultimate in relaxation.

London Cabbie Tours can be accessed outside the foyer and take in all the main places of interest and antiquity.  The hotel houses internationally acclaimed restaurants and bars. The accommodation offers rooms with couples and suites for families.  Luxury Hotel Services can organize tickets for theatre shows.   The service at this 85-year-old landmark hotel will indeed put the sizzle into your summer.

  1. LOVE LIVERPOOL

There is much more to Liverpool than just being the home of The Beatles.  John Lennon Airport is one of the busiest in Europe.  Liverpool is comfortably equidistant to most of the UK.  In summer, there is a proliferation of weekend concerts, gigs, and festivals popping up to make the most of the hot weather.

The entertainment extends to comedy clubs, sports events and even cage fighting.  The Pier Head Village summer festival is the most memorable and takes place on Liverpool’s iconic waterfront from June 30th – September 10th.   Arts and crafts, artisanal local food, funfair rides and regional bands make this fun for everyone and the perfect weekend getaway from the humdrum.

  1. THE SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS BECKON, LADS, AND LASSES.

A summer weekend fling with a Scottish highland twist is the place for anyone with bird watching, tramping and picnics in mind.  The solitude in the northwest area of bonny Scotland is perfect for cycling without fear of traffic.  The roads are well maintained with sweeping views on all sides of mountains and summer foliage.

The most prominent town is Inverness.  The countryside is resplendent with glens, lochs and quaint villages.  A sample of the cultural riches the area contains is The Glenmorangie Whiskey distillery; The West Highland Museum; Ballindalloch Castle; Cairngorms National Park.

The Scottish Highlands are a UK institution for the weekend escapee who wants to leave the busy city life, and with a population of just 213,590 in an area of 26,484 sq km, this is the ideal place.

Top 10 weekend getaways this summer in the UK

As Brexit looms ahead, British holiday makers are choosing to stay in the UK rather than look abroad.

Staycation internet searches and booking are up almost a quarter compared to 2017. The trips are shorter too with half of the staycations planning a break of three days or less (most likely over weekends) – up 8.8 per cent from last year.

Vacationers are opting to enjoy all the UK has to offer. So, where are the best weekend getaways in Britain?

Cornwall

With 300 miles of coastline what’s not to love? Scattered all around are dunes, beaches, cliffs, and harbors.

Arguably Cornwall has the best beaches in Britain, staring out at their turquoise waters and with their white sand between your toes anyone could forgive you for thinking you were somewhere more like the Maldives.

Lake District

Having just been awarded UNESCO world heritage status (in July 2017) it has finally gained acknowledgment for being one of the most beautiful locations on the planet.

If you love walking in nature, this is the weekend escape you need. With public footpaths giving access to the entire 912 square miles of the park you can relish in the blue waters and high mountain peaks.

Norfolk

The rolling countryside and sleepy villages make for a perfect weekend away.

There’s much to enjoy even on the rainy day, which is all too common in our British summers. You can visit Norwich’s Norman castle which was founded by William the Conqueror somewhere between 1066 and 1075.

Cambridge

If the countryside is not your thing, enjoy the gorgeous architecture and riverside setting of this quaint British city. The River Cam cuts through this town, and there’s no better way to see it than by punt.  Punting is an age-old tradition in Cambridge, having been around since Edwardian times and will give you views of the city you can’t get any other way.

London

If you’re not a city dweller, then a weekend city break in London is something you definitely should experience. For scale, splendor and night life nowhere in the UK can beat it. You can go out and stay out all night, enjoy the club, bars, and comedy but first dine in one of the 64 restaurants that have at least one Michelin star.

Edinburgh

This Scottish city should be on the list for your next weekend away from home. These building on these roads tell stories going back to the 12 century, when it the city was established by King David I. The castles and manors contain sheer untamed beauty, you could spend hours walking along, admiring this city’s streets.

Snowdonia

The oldest national park in Wales, visiting this outstanding destination you will be spoiled for scenery.  The home of Mount Snowdon, the tallest mountain in England and Wales, is 3,560 feet tall. The three-hour hike to the top¬ boasts some of the best views in the UK.

The Isle of Wight

A holiday destination since Victorian times, it has beautiful well-conserved wildlife. Named the “Dinosaur Capital of Britain” in 2013 it’s the perfect fan for any fans of Jurassic Park. Maybe you will find a fossil to take home as a souvenir.

Belfast

Where better to enjoy a shamrock topped pint of Guinness? Poured by a lovely barmaid who has what is now officially considered the sexiest accent in the world.

Even if a glass of the black stuff isn’t for you there, plenty of hoppy delights to choose from since Northern Ireland’s craft beer revolution began.

Liverpool

This is a foodie or music lovers’ paradise. A wide range of culinary delights are enjoyed here – it even has one of the UK’s highest restaurants.

The birthplace of the Beatles, there are many venues in which to spend your evenings – able to listen to any genre of music you like.

The UK has so much to offer; it’s no wonder people are choosing to have breaks in Britain. So where will your next adventure take you?
