Why live-in before marriage? Because it’s a boon

It’s the sort of thought that would bring our parents to a horrified halt. There is the real fear a grandparent might catch a whisper of it, and there will be a scene reminiscent of an Ekta Kapoor serial.

But ask the younger generations, and it’s common knowledge that it might just be the smart choice.

  1. Try Before You Buy

Live together or learn how to live together, and however bad it might be to realize that you can’t do it, it’s still better than having to get a divorce.

Just don’t treat a live-in relationship like a trial, where you can bail out any time. If you aren’t serious enough to stick it out through the hard times, then it’s better just to break up. The idea is to try and avoid a messy break-up!

  1. Low-Key Living

Even if you’re convinced that the two of you are going to get married and live happily ever after, it’s still a good idea to have a live-in relationship.

Why? Because then you learn to adjust together without all the stress and expense of a marriage hanging over your shoulder.

After a wedding, buying a new fridge or going on a vacation might be impossible because all of your spare cash is gone in the marriage. It creates a lot of extra stress when you’re learning how to adjust to a new person in your space.

  1. Learn the Differences From A Roommate

I am a great roommate/flatmate. I’ve heard it from 7 out of 8 people I’ve lived with, so it has to be right! So I’m sure to have a great married life, right? Nah.

Treating a married life like having a roommate is going to end pretty badly!

Learn how to live with a spouse, how to live with someone permanently and deal with the problems that crop up. It will take time to unlearn behaving like a roommate.

  1. Have Some Privacy

The minute you’re married, you’re going to have many well-meaning (or not!) relatives asking about your ‘plans.’ When the question is –  are you going to give them a kid to play with?

Apart from offering them a fluffy toy and suggesting that kids aren’t toys, the other alternative is just to grin and bear it.

When you’re already trying to adjust to a new living situation, these small constant stressors can become unbearable.

  1. Enjoy Yourself!

Following directly on from the above, once you’re married, in a way you’re everybody’s business. Your parents, your spouse’s parents, every relative you haven’t ever heard of will come out of the woodwork to explain the ‘realities of life’ to you.

Have a live-in relationship and enjoy the private time that you can have together without having to take into account roommates, relatives, and everyone else.

Whatever you do, always be honest with each other and learn how to take the little problems less seriously. It’ll make both marriages and live together much more comfortable!

5 Relationship Tips To Remain Happily Married (Rank Princess – SEO)

A Happy Marriage is hard work, ask your parents, and they will tell you. There is no way you tie the knot and leave it on autopilot. Your plane will crash, for sure, if not crash, at least the flight will be so boring, you will want to jump out of the aeroplane.

This article is not meant to scare you, and if you are planning on taking the plunge anytime soon, a few relationship tips won’t do any harm.

  1. Compliment Your Partner

Human beings are social creatures. We interact with the world around us, pursue a career and choose a partner because it makes us feel like we are a better person. Compliments never get old, even old people love compliments. Try telling an elderly lady at a party how pretty she is looking this evening, and you will notice her cheeks turn red even at that age. We generally forget to appreciate our partner from time to time, for the little, big, small, silly, adventurous, dumb, cute things they do. Skip this one out, and unhappy marriage signs will start appearing soon.

  1. Be Honest…About Everything

We are honest as kids when we are in love or to our parents. We are honest to our partners as well. But there are times when we intentionally leave out some of the details for the sake of our partner, hoping it will hurt them or simply to cajole our ego. Don’t do that. Missed out on your credit card payments, tell them! The boss is bullying you, tell them! Attracted to someone else, don’t stuff your mouth with food, tell them! It might just end up becoming a joke, and you both will have a good laugh about it.

  1. Maintain Yourself, Physically and Mentally

Remember how great you both looked on the day of your wedding. Since then have you been able to fit into your wedding outfit or is it simply an artefact in the corner of your wardrobe. A beer belly and love handles were never in fashion and never will be. Work out, take up a hobby, live an active life, invest in clothes that make you appear attractive, visit the spa every month. Also, remember when two individuals with strong personalities come together there is bound to be friction and difference of opinion. Plates flying in the house, high pitched discussions and walking out in the middle of the night will end up being an unhappy marriage with kids, and you will constantly look out for guides on how to survive in an unhappy marriage. Find ways to maintain a healthy state of mind. Movies, books, a holiday, meditation whatever it takes, make sure you take it up.

  1. Have A Social Life And Make Sure To Take Sometime Off Each Other

Happy marriage lies in the pursuit for staying happily married. You both need to embark on a journey together and yet wander by yourselves away from each other from time to time. You will come back stronger when you miss each other and remind yourselves how important you both are in each other’s lives. Reconnect with your friends, hang out with your colleagues, and widen your social circle. These relationship tips will help you avoid drastic situations such as an unhappy marriage, or much worse, a marriage where you both are seeing other people.

  1. Keep The Spark Alive

Get intimate from time to time, do things together that got you together in the first place. Enjoy a candlelit dinner, playfully flirt with each other and bet my money on it, the spark within you will never die. Keep an unhappy marriage quiz for your friends and accomplices and poke fun at them while discussing what to do when you’re not happy in your marriage. Just for fun while you are drowning a bottle of Vodka, play twister, scare bystanders, visit the park, basically life presents you with options you might have never thought of, in ways you cannot imagine.

Make sure to make efforts, and you will see that it will go a long way to make your marriage successful.

Marriage And Husbands: What Today’s Modern Woman Wants (Content Princess – SEO)

Traditional gender roles are fading, giving way to an equal marital platform.  Today’s modern woman can voice her desires for her marriage, strengthening the bond and building a rock-solid foundation.

It’s tough being a woman.  Possibly more challenging being a modern woman breaking traditional gender norms.

However, as the world progresses, women are gaining an empowered voice, and that voice has a lot to say about marriage.  While every marriage is different, there are certain constants that every woman desires.

“I’m half of this whole.”

While the traditional marriage centred on the man making important decisions, it’s time to start making them together.  Women discover the world through incredible lenses.  Valuing that insight, and considering her opinion before making decisions, will show that you truly have the family’s best interest at heart.

“Communication is the Key.”

Women value honest communication with their husbands over an expensive gift.  While men focus on wealth and status, women focus on being heard and understood.  Giving her your full attention is a gift that cannot be measured with a price tag.

“See me.” – says the soul of your woman

The pressure of being a wife and mother is crushing enough without your husband adding to it.  Remember; your wife is not your mother, and she has her own strengths and weaknesses.

She will flourish in an environment with the flexibility to find her own way of doing things, and end up far surpassing even her own expectations.

“Help her out” – Share the house chores

Taking out the garbage has been the firing pin in many spousal arguments.  Though traditionally a woman’s responsibility, times have changed.  With women beginning to pursue their own careers, and share some of the financial burdens, it follows that men should start pitching in on the home front.

“Play with the children.”

Few moments surpass those you spend with your kids.  Men can instil important values in their children, such as learning how to treat women with respect.  It’s also an excellent way to teach them about the importance of unity.

“Encourage my career path.”

Women thrive with a strong husband in their corner.  Instead of asserting the importance of your career over hers, try understanding how passionate she is about her work.  It will give her confidence and encouragement, and let her know you see her as an equally competent partner.

“Say thank-you.”

Few things are as precious to a woman as feeling appreciated.  While men can measure their success in the form of wealth and status, women measure their worth by how much the people in their life appreciate them.  Cooking, cleaning, and washing dishes is a never-ending job, but a simple ‘thank you‘ makes it all worth it.

“Respect Her”

Men’s egos are constantly seeking competitions.  It drives their need to outshine everyone else and also drives their fear of being seen as weak.  Respecting a woman means understanding that she does not share that need to compete, and is satisfied just by feeling equal. Respect her opinions, differences, and feelings, and get ready to experience a whole new depth of love in return.

“Know the real me.”

Do you truly know your wife?  Depending on how you got married, you may know very little about their past experiences.  A genuine interest in who your wife is, and what made her that way, is a gift more precious than wealth or status.

Marriage norms and gender roles are being redefined.  However, women have not changed.  As the modern woman enters new career fields and pursues education, she is still motivated by a deep love for others, and a desire to be loved in return.

There is no limit on the amount of love and nurturing a woman can show her family.  As a man learns to love and value her, he unlocks new depths of that nurturing that fulfil his desire to be cared for, and her willingness to be the caretaker of her family.

Ashley Madison Scandal Poses As Major Threat To Marriages in 2015 (Content Princess)

The issue of whether services like that of Ashley Madison should be allowed to exist is controversial. Ashely Madison is an online dating service. The quirky thing about the company is that they specialise in people finding matches for people who are already married.

The Service

The service is marketed to people who would like to have an affair despite their commitment in a relationship. Odd as it may sound, subscription to Ashley Madison was very popular. They have over 39 million customers who have purchased a membership, and they are spread over 53 countries in the world.

A disagreeing Party

The company raises questions about moral standards. However, Ashley Madison did not become famous for its service. It became famous because of the way a group of people chose to react to the concept. While it isn’t surprising that Ashley Madison disgusted some people, it is astounding to find that people would go to the extent of breaking up to eliminate the company!

The Scandal

After finding out about (and disagreeing with) Ashley Madison’s way of business, a group of hackers gained illegal access to the information of all the customers of Ashley Madison. The hacking included hacking sensitive information such as:

  • Email addresses
  • The bodies of emails
  • The names of the customers
  • The home addresses of the customers
  • And graphic details like the sexual fantasies of the customers.

This incident took place on the 15th of July 2015. They wanted the owners of Ashley Madison (Avid Life Media) to shut Ashley Madison down as well as another one of their sites (EstablishedMen.com – another dating website). They threatened to release the personal information online for public viewing if they did not comply with their demands.

Despite this, Ashley Madison remained online, and this provoked the hackers to release some of the information on the 22nd of July 2015. After further resistance from Avid Life Media, the hackers released all the data on the 20th of August later in the year. It is this action which poses a major threat to marriages.

Huge Problem for Marriages

The hackers had just unleashed the identities of 39 million unfaithful spouses and partners. Some couples already had weak relationships due to doubt. After the data leakage, some people started to search the information to find out if their partners had been cheating on them with the help of Ashley Madison. Two marriage-wrecking scenarios could occur.

They might be unfortunate enough to have their doubts confirmed by the data and as a result, bring the issue up with their partner – severely weakening their relationships. Some people might jump straight to divorce after finding their partner to be an adulterer.

They might not have found their partner to be cheating through the website, but their partner might be disappointed that they had such little faith in their loyalty that they might also divorce.

Some people might not have doubts about their partner. However, they might mistakenly stumble onto some of the data and be shocked to find out that their partner had been cheating on them.

A website with the slogan “Life is short. Have an affair” is bound to cause rifts in relationships. And when all the information is public, it can only get worse.

Is Faith just as important as Trust in a Marriage? (Content Princess)

Marriage is one of the most important bonds a person can ever make. There are certain things which make this bond thrive despite the ups and downs of life. Trusting your spouse is one of the most important factors.  As a Christian, your bond with Jesus is also of great importance – married or not!

So is it true that placing such an important bond in higher priority than the bond of marriage ends up weakening a marriage? Or does it improve the strength of your marriage?

Common Misconceptions

Many people hold the view that Christian couples divorce at the same rate as non-Christian couples. People hope to use this statement to undermine the faith in marriages. However, enough research has been done to suggest otherwise. Couples with an element of faith are less likely to divorce on the whole.

Research has shown that Catholic couples are 31{ed162fdde9fdc472551df9f31f04601345edf7e4eff6ea93114402690d8fa616} less likely to divorce than couples that aren’t religious. Protestant couples are 35{ed162fdde9fdc472551df9f31f04601345edf7e4eff6ea93114402690d8fa616} less likely to divorce, and Jewish couples have incredibly strong marriages – with a 97{ed162fdde9fdc472551df9f31f04601345edf7e4eff6ea93114402690d8fa616} less likelihood of divorce.

Having said this, the chance of divorce is increased when the couples are conservative Protestants, compared to being liberals or a non-religious couple.

Requirement of steadfastness

Further research outlines a few patterns about happy marriages.

  • While only 7{ed162fdde9fdc472551df9f31f04601345edf7e4eff6ea93114402690d8fa616} of struggling couples have said that ‘God is at the centre of our marriage’,
  • 53{ed162fdde9fdc472551df9f31f04601345edf7e4eff6ea93114402690d8fa616} of happy couples have said this statement.
  • 30{ed162fdde9fdc472551df9f31f04601345edf7e4eff6ea93114402690d8fa616} of struggling couples disagree with the statement ‘God is at the centre of our marriage.

This goes on to show that the likelihood of a better marriage is increased when the focus of each person isn’t their spouse, but rather the significance of their bond in the eyes of God.

It is also interesting that Protestants have a 35{ed162fdde9fdc472551df9f31f04601345edf7e4eff6ea93114402690d8fa616} less chance of divorcing, whereas another research shows that Protestants have a 20{ed162fdde9fdc472551df9f31f04601345edf7e4eff6ea93114402690d8fa616} more chance of divorcing.

This is because the latter Protestants are those who keep their Christianity mainly in the name rather than in their actions. Those who regularly go to church and are more ‘active’ Christians have a much happier married life on the whole.

This suggests that the stronger one’s relationship is with God, the stronger is the relation with their spouse – a positive correlation.

A Happy Marriage

Some people find it hard to believe that a ‘happy marriage’ is possible since spouses are always getting into heated arguments. The reality is that those heated arguments are mostly over nothing; they are the type of arguments you would look back at, and laugh about in future.

To avoid the arguments which damage marriages you need to make sure that the petty ones don’t escalate. That only happens when you realise that your relationship with your spouse is far more important than who misplaced the remote.

Marriage is certainly a very difficult instrument to play, and if you want to hit the right notes, you need help from a special being; help from God. Once you place God in the centre of your relationship, you will hit the right notes, and it will be worth it.

Beyond Love (True Story Of A Dipsite) (Aakshey Talwar)

Originally published at:

Beyond Love (True Story Of A Dipsite)

Dear Friend,

You definitely don’t want to be bored with a sermon. Being a copywriter, I ought to know to not do that to you. So. I’ll keep this short for you.

You probably want to know who the hell am I? I’m Aakshey Talwar. And I was diagnosed with Asperger’s when I was in class 9. You saw SRK in My Name is Khan? For now, this introduction should suffice.

But. I have set out on a journey that none of my *normal* school and college mates dared to take. You’re probably wondering what the heck is this guy talking about.

I’ll get that to that in a bit.

I’ll be telling you 2 short stories today. Just 2 of them. No big deal.

These short stories form the basis of who I’m today. And I’m sure they will help you in some way or the other, in your own journey.

First, let us talk about love.

Back in DPS RKP, in class 11, I fell in love. And I was madly in love. Her name was Annie. And I found her beautiful.

I found life harsh because she used to hate me. You probably know how terrible and painful that feels. Time didn’t stop though.

School ended. And of course, there wasn’t much hope after that.

But. I hope you don’t love anybody that way. Because it is poison. But. Now we’re moving off topic.

The question is why did Annie hate me?

And the answer is simple. I was different. Weird in fact. Teenagers, and popular girls in particular don’t like that. One bit. You’d agree with that perhaps.

My classmates used to call me an Alien due to my stratospheric IQ but weird behaviour.

And most of all, I just didn’t have the courage to approach Annie directly. I never got the courage to talk to her confidently. Even though she was in the same school bus!

And as you probably know, girls hate lack of confidence. And I was as under confident as one could be.

Long story short, Annie was never in my life as my GF.

And it was the biggest setback ever. You’d probably not want anything remotely similar to happen to you. Pray it doesn’t happen to you. And I’ll pray for you too.

And the biggest hurdle that was there was overcoming that Asperger related behaviour. You understand that. Right?

Anyway, enough about the first story.

You probably want to hear the next one.

The final one.

My love for Annie made me start my own company. Weaving Thoughts. When I was not even 18 years old.

Yes, I did enrol in a full time college course. From Delhi University, no less. I attended Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies and majored in Finance. And I did graduate as well. Albeit. I just about passed. But that isn’t what we are talking about right now. Right?

Coming back to the point.

Back in 2008, age 18 years, I still loved Annie. A lot. And that will never change. It hasn’t changed in 2016 either. And starting Weaving Thoughts was the best way I could think of to impress her. And to earn enough to buy gifts for her. Of course the gifting part never materialised.

You’d have done the same thing. Right? Thought so!

And later on Weaving Thoughts was to become my dream. My passion. My love. My life. I didn’t need to take up a job when my friends were taking up jobs or going for higher education.

There were times of success and those of failure. And even now I’m still recuperating from a low. But at least I’m happier than ever and I can see a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel.

To top it all. I have been on anti-depressants ever since school ended. I have been suicidal for a significant part of this journey. And not everything is hunk dory even now. As you’d probably have guessed.

But.

There is a point I’m trying to make.

Had Annie not been in my life as an inspiration, I would have never started Weaving Thoughts.

Had I not started Weaving Thoughts, I would just be an unhappy and disgruntled employee in a corporate job with no existence of his own. I would never have been happy. And I wouldn’t know what to do about it either.

Had Annie accepted me, I don’t know whether I’d have taken out enough time to pursue Weaving Thoughts through college.

And this is just the tip of the ice berg.

There is a lot of stuff that never made sense till even a year ago. And there is much that doesn’t make sense even now.

But.

Once you believe that you reside in the Creator of the Universe. And that he resides in you. And. That you and the Lord are all but one. You’ll be better equipped to deal with the problems that come.

It may not always work out. But. Do you know anything that will?

And just to show a glimpse of how much I loved Annie:

Back in grade 12, when all of us were 17 year olds, Annie had kept a Karwa Chauth fast for her then boyfriend, who of course didn’t do the same for her! Frustrated at the thought of enjoying my meal while she was hungry and thirsty, I decided to keep one for her myself. That day, I didn’t drink a drop of water nor ate a bite of food till I broke my fast with her pic when the moon came out. Of course, she doesn’t know this even today. (I did drink a few drops of water early morning with my medicines, but that’s it!)

P.S. The name of my love has been changed to Annie to maintain her privacy. Which becomes even more important now that she’s happily married. Not to me of course! I’m single and ready to mingle.

P.P.S. Some 340 or so poems that I wrote for Annie, that I have self published on Amazon.com. Across two volumes.

Unhealthy and Irrational – Bidding Adieu to your Relationship (Rank Princess)

Unhealthy and Irrational – Bidding Adieu to your relationship

Human relationships can be pure bliss when everything seems perfect.

On the other hand, it can get complicated when you tend to question yourself.

When relationships get unhealthy, they tend to affect every aspect of your life and this rule applies to every person. Every person needs to work on their relationship as there are two different individuals involved and when the relationship gets toxic, one needs to draw the line.

So, when does one do it?

When does a person say that he has had enough and needed to move on?

Sometimes it is tough for couples to admit that they are in an unhealthy relationship. They do everything that they can to get their relationship working again.

Admitting problems, seeking help from others and acknowledging the initial signs of an unhealthy relationship are key to resolving issues and regaining peace of mind.

These signs are a reminder to any couple whose relationship is no longer working or if they need to relook at some aspects of their love life.

Let’s see what these are:

Trust

One needs to trust their partner implicitly.

If there are constant occurrences of one checking the other’s email accounts or chat messages and then blaming them, it is indeed a sign of a cracked relationship.

Insufficient quality time together

When your partner seems to be spending time with his or her buddies every weekend, there seems to be some issue cringing.

Physical and verbal abuse

Abuse of any kind affects a person physically and mentally, and this is an alarming sign to let you know that your partner is an absolute misfit for you.

Everyday fights

Every couple argues and fights, but when you see that your fights are not stopping, and happening over the smallest of things, it is a sign that your relationship is heading towards the red zone.

Lack of transparency

There are times when you don’t want to tell your partner everything.

However, it is essential to have an open relationship where you communicate the key things.

One sided affair

To create a strong foundation of a healthy relationship both partners have to build blocks by mutually supporting and trusting each other.

A relationship is bound to go kaput if there’s only one partner putting in all the effort.

Lack of respect

Both partners need to respect each other for who they are and when this goes missing, it means that either the partner does not value you or doesn’t support the beliefs that you have.

Treating your significant other to a date or simply trying new activities with them makes the foundation of your marriage stronger.

You learn new things in the presence of the person you love, all while having some light hearted fun.

Not being able to trust your partner at any stage of your relationship, leads to problems later on.

The key to a successful long-term relationship is not to hide things from one another. Being honest with your partner is.

3. You work as a team.

The factor that distinguishes marriage from other types of relationships is that marriage is a partnership.

Sharing your problems with your partner, be it financial or any other stress provoking issue, will make them feel like you are in it together.

Keeping a grudge for too long is possibly the worst move in a relationship.
To understand that you can both make mistakes and move on from arguments as soon as possible proves your marriage may just be stronger than you think.

6. You express love via your body language.

As the saying goes, actions do speak louder than words, therefore, your body language will say “I love you” better than your words can.

Leaning on to your partner, kissing and even cuddling often shows your partner that you are responsive. You really do care.

7. You genuinely respect each other.

You are friends before anything else, which means that you like each other.

You can spend time with one another and value the others company.

8. You take his/her emotions as your own.

To be able to value your spouse’s emotions shows that you are there for them.

Empathizing with them helps to settle problems when they show up and reduce the chances of future issues.

9. You know how to patch up!

Making up is not just pushing down your problems because this does not tackle them.

The way you can come together after an argument and understand the issues which have been brought to surface prove your relationship is stable.

Physical or verbal abuse

One cannot just live in love if there is mutual respect missing.

Lack of physical intimacy

Physical intimacy combined with emotional love is very important for a healthy relation. The absence of any of this shows that the relationship is futile and lifeless.
